SACDハイブリッド盤。現在サンフランシスコ・オペラの音楽監督を務める注目の指揮者キム・ウンスン(金恩宣)が、金管楽器の名人集団ナショナル・ブラス・アンサンブルとアルバム『神格化』をリリース!R.シュトラウスの「ウィーン・フィルハーモニーのためのファンファーレ」、ジョナサン・ビンガム(1989-)の「神格化」、アルトゥーロ・サンドヴァル(1949-)の「ブラス・ファンタジー」、そしてワーグナー(ティモシー・ヒギンズ編)の「指環」を収録しております。

当アルバムには世界初録音2篇を収録。サンフランシスコ音楽院とサンフランシスコ交響楽団主催のコンクールにおいて楽曲「Deified(神格化)」で優勝したアメリカ期待の作曲家ビンガム。そして、キューバが誇るブラス界のレジェンド、サンドヴァルのブラス・ファンタジー。ともに卓越した技術を要する難曲で、当団の自由自在な表現力で圧倒的なサウンドを聴かせます。

メインはヒギンズがブラスのために編曲したワーグナーの「指環」からの抜粋作品です。ティモシー・ヒギンズは、ワシントン・ナショナル交響楽団で第2トロンボーン奏者を務めた後、マイケル・ティルソン・トーマスによってその才能を見出され、2008年よりサンフランシスコ交響楽団の首席トロンボーン奏者に就任。またブラス用の編曲家として数多くの作品を手掛けております。この「指環」では金管楽器が持つ卓越した色彩感が表現されており、やはりヴィルトゥオーソでなければ演奏できない難曲となっております。

キム・ウンスンは当団の長所を最大限引き出した演奏を展開。ブラス・ファン、ワーグナー・ファンだけでなく、オーケストラ・ファンにもおすすめのアルバムです。DSDによる収録でSACD層ではマルチチャンネルもお楽しみいただけます。
