ブリテン「ピーター・グライムズ」!

2015年にノルウェーの名門オーケストラ、ベルゲン・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団の首席指揮者に就任し、絶賛されたエディンバラ国際音楽祭や7度の国際ツアー、数々のレコーディングを通じてベルゲン・フィルの魅力を世界に伝えてきた次代を担うマエストロ、エドワード・ガードナー。2021年からはユロフスキの後任としてロンドン・フィルの首席指揮者に就任することが発表されましたが、ベルゲン・フィルとの契約も2年間延長し、2023年まで首席指揮者のポストを継続しています。録音でも、ベルリオーズやシェーンベルクなど、とりわけ合唱を伴う大編成作品で高い評価を得てきたガードナーとベルゲン・フィルの強力タッグによる新録音。ベンジャミン・ブリテンの代表作である悲劇的な傑作オペラ「ピーター・グライムズ」がChandosの優秀録音によるSACDハイブリッド盤で登場!

初演時にはピーター・ピアーズが担ったタイトル・ロールは、2012年の新国立劇場を始め、イングリッシュ・ナショナル・オペラ、BBCプロムス、エディンバラ国際音楽祭、そして2019年のガードナー&ベルゲン・フィルの国際ツアーなどでピーター・グライムズを歌ってきたハマり役、スチュアート・スケルトン。ベルゲン・フィルの本拠地、グリーグホールで行われたコンサートの後に、万全の態勢でスタジオ録音されています。
