《アントン・ルビンシテインの知られざる大規模オペラ、世界初録音》
このオペラ『モーゼ』は、オーストリアの劇作家で「ウィンザーの陽気な女房たち」の作家として有名なサロモン・ヘルマン・フォン・モーゼンタール(1821-1877)の大作をもとに、アントン・ルビンシテインが1885～1891年に作曲したものです。8つの想像的なイメージで、預言者のすべての話を提示しており、ほぼ同時代にマックス・ブルッフもオラトリオとして作曲(1895年)しています。ルビンシテインは、1892年プラハの新ドイツ劇場(2018年現在のプラハ国立歌劇場)での上演のために作曲を行い、リハーサルまで行われたのにもかかわらず劇場が破産し、上演は全て中止。その後、別会場での公演が計画されましたが、その時期にはこうした宗教的オペラの上演は不人気となり、結局1回も上演されることはありませんでした。2017年10月15日ワルシャワ国立フィルハーモニーで、このCDと同じメンバーにより、コンサート形式で初演が行われました。この演奏の指揮者には、近年こうした知られざる作曲家作品の復興を手掛けるミハイル・ユロフスキ(指揮者ウラディーミル・ユロフスキの父親)が起用され、初演のために協力しています。また、大規模な管弦楽と合唱、10人以上のソリストを必要とし、ポーランド文化・国家遺産省やユネスコの協力により、楽譜の校訂、演奏研究など長年の準備期間を経て演奏されました。その表現力豊かなネオ・ロマンチックなスタイルを保ち、壮大なアリアやアンサンブル、聖書の五節での劇的なエピソードを描いた魅惑的な音楽は特に印象的。このCDは、その初演直前にスタジオ録音されたものです。この作品のテキストはドイツ語で書かれており、そのままドイツ語で歌われています。
