A UNIQUE PROJECT
Featuring Barenboim's collaboration, between the early seventies and the early eighties,
with the English Chamber Orchestra
(Vaughan Williams, Walton, Beethoven, Delius)
the Chicago Symphony Orchestra
(Bruckner, Saint-Saens, Tchaikovsky, Elgar, Schumann)
and the Orchestre de Paris
(Franck, Debussy, Lalo, Ravel, Berlioz,
with the extraordinary presences of Placido Domingo and Jessye Norman).
Particularly significant in this context are his explorations of the French repertoire in which the maestro, a refined lover of colour, has always felt at ease undertaken with great enthusiasm with the Orchestre de Paris.
To conclude, Barenboim the pianist:
we hear him in the transcription for piano and orchestra that Beethoven himself made of his Violin Concerto Op. 61 and in Liszt's Concert Paraphrase on Giuseppe Verdi's "Rigoletto"
