キャノンズに響いた1720年版の"エステル"!
「メサイア」の1742年ダブリン初演版(CKD 285)、「エイシスとガラテア」1718年キャノンズ初演版(CKD 319)など、ヘンデルやJ.S.バッハの知られざる異稿の発掘、蘇演を実現させてきたジョン・バットとダンディン・コンソート。ヘンデル・シリーズの第3弾は、正確な作曲、初演の時期は不明であるものの、1718年に作曲されたと伝わる「エステル」の『1720年キャノンズ改訂第1稿』!
初稿版ではマスクとして作曲され「ハモンとモルデカイ」と呼ばれていた説もあるなど、謎の多いヘンデルの「エステル」。指揮者のジョン・バットは、1720年にキャノンズに滞在していたヘンデルが同地での演奏のために行った最初の"改訂稿"に注目。音楽学者としての視点から研究、検証を行い、ヘンデル・シリーズ第3弾としてのレコーディングが実現したのである!
各パート1名というスタイルを採用したヘンデルの「エステル」。キャノンズ邸に響き渡った「エステル」が約300年という時を越えて再現される――!
