父は巨匠ネーメ・ヤルヴィ、兄には快進撃を続けるパーヴォ・ヤルヴィを持つエストニアの音楽一家ヤルヴィ一族の若き異端児クリスチャン・ヤルヴィがフランツ・シュミットの大作を携えシャンドスに初登場！新約聖書、ヨハネ黙示録の最後の審判を描いたオラトリオ「7 つの封印の書」は、フランツ・シュミット最晩年の代表作。演奏には多くの声楽ソリスト、オルガン、大編成オーケストラ、混声合唱を要するなど、壮大なスケールで描かれた「最後の審判」は近代オラトリオを代表する傑作として名高い。
自身が創設したアブソリュート・アンサンブルの音楽監督、ノールランド歌劇場交響楽団（スウェーデン）の首席指揮者などのポストを歴任してきたクリスチャン・ヤルヴィは、現在オーストリアの名門トーンキュスラー管弦楽団の首席指揮者と音楽監督を兼務しており、急速なスピードでの進化を世に示している。特に近現代作品、大編成作品の演奏と解釈においては父ネーメと兄パーヴォをも凌ぐ世界的評価と実績を持つクリスチャン・ヤルヴィ。このフランツ・シュミットがさらなる飛躍の大きな契機となるだろう。2005 年9 月29 日＆ 10 月2 月、ウィーン・ムジークフェラインザールでのライヴ録音。[コメント提供；(株)東京エムプラス]
