レゲエ・シンガー Johnny Nash（ジョニー・ナッシュ）が逝去。享年80歳

アメリカのレゲエ／ポップ・シンガー・ソングライター Johnny Nashが10月6日に亡くなったことが明らかになった。享年80歳。

Johnnyはテキサス州ヒューストンで生まれ、1950年代から活躍。1960年代後半以降はレゲエ・シンガーとして成功を収めた。1972年に自身が作曲、編曲、プロデュースを手掛けたシングル“I Can See Clearly Now”が世界的ヒットとなり、多くのミュージシャンにカバーされている。

また、同名のアルバム『I Can See Clearly Now』にはBob Marleyのカバー楽曲が4曲収録され、中でも“Stir It Up”は1973年のチャートで第12位を記録している。

R.I.P to the reggae legend Johnny Nash. One of the artists who made me fall in love with lovers rock and reggae music in the early 70s. So many amazing tunes and a voice like silk. I have never really known a time with reggae music. He was one of the greatest. #JohnnyNash
