【追悼】Sly Stone（スライ・ストーン）
スライ＆ザ・ファミリー・ストーンを率いて独自のファンク・ミュージックを構築し、シンガー・ソングライター／プロデューサーとして多大な影響を与えたスライ・ストーンが逝去。享年82歳。

■Sly Stone（スライ・ストーン）プロフィール
1943年3月15日生まれ、米・テキサス州デントン出身のシンガー・ソングライター／プロデューサー。本名はシルヴェスター・ステュワート。カリフォルニア州ヴァレーホに移った後、弟のフレディ、妹のローズやヴィエタとともにザ・スチュアート・フォーを結成。その後、ザ・ヴィスケインズなどを経て、1966年にスライ＆ザ・ファミリー・ストーンを結成。
「ダンス・トゥ・ザ・ミュージック」のヒットで注目され、1969年には全米1位を獲得した「エヴリデイ・ピープル」を含む『スタンド!』を発表してトップ・スターとなる。1971年の『暴動』では物騒な題名とは裏腹にクールなファンクを展開、大反響を起こす。その後も作品を発表するが、麻薬中毒に陥り満足な成果を上げられず、80年代以降はほとんど活動停止状態となる。
バンド解散後はソロ活動へ移行。ファンカデリック、ボビー・ウーマックらとも共演。プロデューサー業も行なう。80年代後半より隠遁生活を送るも2006年に復活。独自のファンク・ミュージックを構築し、多大な影響を与えていました。
