Chris Blackwellが1959年にジャマイカで設立した、レゲエの名門“ISLAND”レーベル。レゲエという呼称がまだ存在せず、ラジオから聞こえてくるアメリカのヒット・ポップスをカヴァーしたシングルが国内だけでヒットしていた60年代のレゲエ創成期から、Bob Marleyの登場によりレゲエとラスタ・カルチャーが世界へ飛躍した70年代の拡大期、そして2000年代のレゲエ・ヒップホップ・ブーム＝世界のメイン・ストリームへと進化した最盛期まで、“ISLAND”が世界に発信してきた名曲/人気曲128曲を8枚組ボックスに完全収録！
