The eighth volume of his legendary Progression Sessions finds Bukem in familiar territory with longtime collaborator MC Conrad. While the majority of his signature sound remains intact for this installment, Bukem does stray into some uncharted waters. And that's a good thing, because where most drum'n'bass producers are content to remain in a certain pocket of predictable sounds, Bukem refuses to be pigeonholed in a genre where the vocabulary can be somewhat limited at times. Easily the most mature and focused of the series to date, it also comes with a bonus disc of instrumentals that supplement the original disc laden heavily with vocals. ~ Rob Theakston
