One-part singing and two-parts whooping and hollering, Northern Cree's powwow music is a raucous carnival of drum and voice that begs the body to move. Recorded live at Saddlelake in Alberta, Canada (a Cree reserve), this collection offers a choir of tribal voices that is remarkably unified and powerful, resulting in an energizing cacophony of sound. Most often these songs are calls for unbridled celebration, as exemplified in the jubilant, dance-provoking shouts of "Good Times" and the passionate yelling of "Hut-Cha."
