Six years in a row of Ozzfest proves that as long as Ozzy and Sharon Osborne can assemble angry, hungry, and talented bands, the festival will continue. Having a CD to go along with the tour is twice the fun. And with established acts such as Black Sabbath and Marilyn Manson on the bill, it's far from a kiddiefest. The Sabs are the Godfathers Of Doom and their delivery of "The Wizard" (complete with harmonica solo) is as vicious as when they rattled arenas 30 years before. Manson's "The Love Song" is anything but, and works well in a live setting. Slipknot, the current Nu Metal kings, succeed in jacking up the crowd via their fat, heavy power chords. Papa Roach's "Blood Brothers" keeps things funky while dipping back to a more melodic, old school vibe. Onetime Ozzy protege Zakk Wylde and his Black Label Society let loose with some alcohol-fueled brutality on "Super Terrorizer." American Head Charge ends the album on a thunderous note, kicking ass in a tight, precise manner on "Reach and Touch."
