Though this trio of high school pals came of age in the same Detroit scene as the White Stripes, their sound betrays a distinct fervor for power-pop. And nowhere is this more evident than on their 2002 sophomore LP, GOT WHAT WE WANT. Tracks like "Everybody's A Poet" are organized around the confluence of jubilant piano and frontman Eddie Baranek's falsetto, while opener "Don't Want You Back" shares the ethereal riffs of early Teenage Fanclub. But the Sights' roots are revealed when the blues creeps its way in to a hard- rocker like "Be Like Normal" and the bar-closing ballad "Sick And Tired".|
