This 2003 Sony box set repackages three key releases from three very distinct points in Vandross' career: the upbeat 1981 release Never Too Much that made Vandross a triple threat recording artist; a star on the R&B, adult contemporary, and pop music charts with the eponymous title track; 1986's Give Me the Reason, which found Vandross riding high on the wave of success from his three previous endeavors, and featured two of his most popular songs: the title track and the R&B chart topping hit "Stop to Love"; and finally, 1991's Power of Love finds Vandross at his peak, with several smash hits "Power of Love/Love Power" and "Don't Want to Be a Fool." All in all it's not a bad way to acquire these hits if you're a Vandross devotee. But if you're just looking for the hits at a more sensible purchase price, it might be better off to check out one of the readily available greatest-hits anthologies. ~ Rob Theakston
