This French electro-acoustic composer and writer created these experimental compositions on the theme of childhood, and this CD on Ina GRM exhibits some of his earliest recorded work. "The Time Killing Machine" dates from 1972, and uses the sounds of bells and water as its source, creating an elaborate sound experiment in musique concrete. The 1975 piece "You Can't Stop Regrets" adopts John Cage's pioneering prepared piano technique, and couples it with voices to magnificent effect. This is a challenging and critical work from this avant-garde composer, and is highly recommended as essential listening to those intrigued by the classical musique concrete genre and pioneering early electronic work in general. ~ Sylvie Harrison
