Originally released in the 1980s, this album is one of a group of Masi reissues to come out of Lion Music in 2002. The disc in its first incarnation actually garnered the band airplay on MTV, mostly because metal was in at the time. The lineup on this one was David Felolt (vocals), Johnatan McKeighan (drums), and Claus Wildt (bass) joining Alex Masi. The release features strong songwriting; Masi, as guitar heroes go, really has a sense for strong song-crafting, an all-too-uncommon skill in those circles. It really makes Masi stand out, though. Although the disc has more substance than a lot of the material coming out under the '80s metal banner, it did succumb to some of the familiar cliches (musically and lyrically) of the time, leaving it a bit dated. Still, it holds up much better than a lot of the work of other bands from that time. That, again, has to be chalked up to Masi's sense of taste and style. ~ Gary Hill
