In the wake of the popular trend of hip hop producers putting out their own albums, Da Beatminerz have released BRACE 4 IMPAK on powerhouse underground label Rawkus Records. Da Beatminerz are no strangers to the hip-hop game, having been the driving musical force behind Black Moon, Smif N Wesson, and other MC's hailing from Brooklyn's Duck Down camp. Characterized by a minimalist approach to beat production consisting of heavy bass lines, popping snares, and unassuming samples, Da Beatminerz sound became the foundation for hard-core, underground East Coast hip-hop.
BRACE 4 IMPAK attempts to revive the once-groundbreaking work of brothers Mr. Walt and Evil D with the help of new production techniques and a slew of guest appearances from New York's finest underground MC's. Although the album doesn't capture the raw element that made their earlier work so attractive it does produce a few choice cuts that are guaranteed to please aficionados. A couple of the most notable cuts are "Bentleys and Bitches" featuring Ras Kass and Jayo Felony, and the stirring, evocative "Hustler's Theme" performed by The Last Emperor.
