There are at least five Django Reinhardt albums titled Swing from Paris, two that use the phrase Swing de Paris and one Swing in Paris. These numbers will doubtless change as Django's voluminous discography continues to expand along with the material universe. All of Reinhardt's music swings, and most of it was recorded in Paris. Swing from Paris as presented by Giants of Jazz is a 22-track Reinhardt compilation that begins during the spring of 1939 and rolls backwards through the decade to the first-ever recording session by the Quintette of the Hot Club de France in December 1934. The great discographic curveball occurs at track six; "Eveline" was recorded on November 14, 1947, but this detail is only apparent to the dedicated researcher. Aside from acting as a temporary rupture in an otherwise near-perfect reverse sequential progression of tracks, "Eveline," like everything else on this pleasant album, is vintage continental gypsy swing, played by Reinhardt, Stephane Grappelli and their perpetually swinging Parisian players. ~ arwulf arwulf|
