Ibiza is a magnet for quality dance DJs, so whenever you see a compilation that namecheck the vacation hotspot, give it a look and a listen. This one features music from Energy 52, Fire Island, Jaydee, Sueno Latino, the Aloff, Paul Van Dyk, Bob Marley, Storm, Joey Negro, and Moloko, among others. A nice -- if a little bloated at three discs -- beginner course, Old Skool Ibiza rolls through a series of crucial club cuts from Jaydee ("Plastic Dreams"), the Future Sound of London ("Papua New Guinea"), Sueno Latino ("Sueno Latino"), Underworld ("Dark and Long"), Masters at Work ("To Be in Love"), and Joey Negro ("Must Be the Music"). This makes for a decent starter kit, though it's not exactly definitive. Unfortunately, Deca Dance had to take the nth liberty with the use of the phrase "old school"; not only that, but they had to spell it with a "k." ~ Andy Kellman
