The second album from this tremendously talented young group is a delight. If this were a typical Cajun dance record, it would be fine, but there's more depth here than that -- the spoken-word section at the close of "Couchemar de 1755," the unaccompanied group harmony of "Sept Ans Sur Mer" -- and the record comes alive during such moments; save for the youth in their voices, one would have a hard time believing that this is essentially the work of children. Produced by Steve Riley, Belle Louisiane is a sparkling effort from a group whose abilities are very much ahead of their ages. ~ Jim Smith
