While Cassidy and his milieu have never been overly burdened with hip credibility, a reassessment of some of this material reveals some very real pleasures. The sophisticated songcraft, spiraling harpsichord, and rich, sunny vocal harmonies of "I Think I Love You," "I Woke Up in Love This Morning," and of course, the Partridges' indelible theme "C'mon Get Happy" compare favorably with the California sunshine pop of the Association (whose "Cherish" gets an update here) and the Mamas & the Papas. The newer tunes stand in stark sonic contrast to the baroque pop of those chestnuts, framed by rhythm loops and synthesizers, but Cassidy's voice seems to have aged hardly a day since his teen-idol era. C'mon, get happy!
