The problem with many Ministry of Sound compilations is that there are just so many of them out there it's hard to decipher what is quality and what isn't if you are not an authority on the wide range of electronic music currently being produced. However, to MOS' credit, the chillout sessions are usually filled with top-notch recordings by some of the genre's most eminent producers, as exemplified by Chillout Sessions - Ibiza 2002. Opening with the one-two punch of Basement Jaxx and downtempo darlings Zero 7 is a sure-fire way to start off any record, and the inclusion of Matthew Herbert (recording under the alias of Doctor Rockit) only helps to keep the momentum (or lack thereof) going. At two discs in length it definitely has its moments of unnecessary filler, and it furthers the argument that some of the Ministry compilations could be scaled down into one stellar single disc. But for the quality and value of the compilation overall, it's a wonderful introduction to the world of downtempo/chillout music. ~ Rob Theakston
