Jimmy Rosenberg proves to be such a fluid acoustic guitarist on this frequently heated set that it is difficult to believe that he was only 17 at the time. His playing is very much in the tradition of Django Reinhardt yet he does not sound like a mere copy. Rosenberg teams up on this CD with fellow guitarist Angelo Debarre (who is on the same level), bassist Svein Aarbostad and (on seven of the 18 songs) guitarist Bireli Lagrene for a program of hard swinging numbers, many of which were associated with Django. The playing often borders on the miraculous with the highlights including such tunes as "Them There Eyes," "Coquette," "I Can't Give You Anything But Love," "Embraceable You," "Donna Lee," and "The Sheik of Araby."
