But bandleaders such as the former duo, together with such notables as Fletcher Henderson, Erskine Hawkins, and Jimmie Lunceford, helped to keep the music alive and vibrant. Barnet and Dorsey, both saxophonists, developed an affinity for each other's music, and both bands are featured here; Barnet's orchestra is heard on tracks 1-8 and Dorsey's is heard on tracks 9-16.
