As one half of the Advent, Colin McBean had his hand in some of hard techno's all-time classic tracks. Me, Myself & I shows what McBean's been up to since parting ways with the Advent's other half, Cisco Ferreira, by mixing up a dozen original tracks and remixes done under his various monikers, Mr. G, Monkey Boy, The Reaver, and Phoenix. And it is evident that McBean has followed a much funkier path than his former partner.Comprised of nine tracks produced by McBean, along with remixes by Roger Sanchez, Mike Grant, and Tall Paul, the style is a much deeper tech-house than the looped techno of McBean's past. Still, the sturdy drum sounds are an ever present reminder of McBean's techno programming days, while the rubbery bass in each track reveals a looser side that was usually obscured by his old group's high-velocity techno assaults. The end result is a sound that has a lot more room to breathe. Tracks like "Beatz For Your Mind" and "Control Freak" recall the looping disco acid of early Daft Punk, while his remix of Mike Grant's "The Struggle of My People" keeps its deep house roots firmly planted. McBean has done quite well for himself by revealing a funky edge that can be appreciated even by those who may shy away from techno's hard pummeling. Mr.Gって誰だ?　だがこのCDを聴けばわかる人は思わず叫ぶはず、「お前アドヴェントだろう!!」と。シスコ・フェレイラ独りになってもリリース量とトラックの疾走を止めないアドヴェントのハウス仕様名義＝Mr.Gの初アルバムは、ディープというよりもファンキーかつミニマル的な組み方のループ、極太なビート、そしてここぞの時に登場する必殺ハイハット乱れ打ちでミニマル好きもイチコロ。ハウス好きもミニマル好きも必聴!
