A few of the tunes on DUKE LION FIGHTS THE TERROR are in keeping with the unrelenting rap-metal sound of Borland's other employers, but that's just one facet of this band's unusual sound. The balance of Big Dumb Face's debut album is actually closer to the willfully bizarre output of Ween than to anything else. Cartoon-character vocals, goofy, absurdist lyrics, zippy music that could have come from a video game soundtrack, and oddball electronic effects are the building blocks employed here. Big Dumb Face's nothing-is-sacred approach echoes everything from Devo to Man Or Astro-Man, as they systematically defy the expectations of Limp Bizkit followers.
