A favorite of community theaters, Brigadoon is the tale of two tourists who stumble upon the village of Brigadoon -- quite a stroke of luck, actually, given that the 18th century Brigadoon only appears for 24 hours a century. One of the tourists falls in love with a village girl, and the very existence of Brigadoon is threatened until the 24-hour period ends and the village disappears. A beautiful Celtic score by Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe makes this show such a success. An excellent version of this Lerner & Loewe hit, this 1988 London recording contains very strong performances and would be a good choice for those looking for a copy of Brigadoon for their collections. ~ Sarah Erlewine
