The 14th double-disc volume in the extremely exhaustive coverage of Django Reinhardt's career by French label Fremeaux & Associes is really everything one should expect from Reinhardt with his famous Quintette du Hot Club de France. It certainly seems, based on recordings available, that this group with Reinhardt rarely turned in a less than fantastic performance, and Integrale Django Reinhardt, Vol. 14: 1947 is no different. The recordings are of nice quality as well, but it should be noted that Integrale Django Reinhardt, Vol. 14: 1947 is not really intended for those interested in getting a taste of what Reinhardt was all about, but instead focuses almost completely on the 1947 radio sessions the band turned out. Another collection would be more appropriate for listeners who wish to hear all of the nuances Reinhardt is famous for. ~ Gregory McIntosh
