Branded expendable by his employers, he flees with only his gun, his personal code, and a woman inadvertently drawn into his escape- moving through desolate industrial zones toward an end that feels both inevitable and self-chosen.

Filmed in austere black-and-white, the film distils noir to its most elemental form: spare dialogue, rigorously controlled compositions, and bursts of sudden violence.
