The fourth album by the talented Ottawa-based singer/songwriter touches all the right chords both musically and emotionally. With the assistance of longtime friend Ian Lefeuvre, Miles has perfected her craft on 11 passionate presentations. Using bare-bones, stripped-down arrangements enables the singer to get the most out of each number, from the folky "Over You" to the pop-oriented introductory track, "I'm the Moon." Sounding as if it's been produced by Daniel Lanois in an Appalachian town, the music is sparse, allowing you to feel as if you're in the studio while listening. Most of the songs work well in and around the five-minute mark, with "When Did the World" being a tad too lengthy and drawn out. But the subsequent title track, appearing as if it were recorded live, is the highlight in a sea of well-polished and picture-perfect nuggets. A diamond in the rough to be found. ~ Jason MacNeil|
