This is a continuous in-the-mix CD compiled and edited by James Christian. James Christian teamed up with the New York-based Stuck on Earth production company for House Theory, a mix album released by Topaz Records that featured tracks from Strictly Rhythm, Dust Traxx, Blinded, and Ovum -- some of the most impressive house labels in the U.S. Christian had been a major presence in New York since 1992 when he began spinning house records at Limelight, and though figures such as Danny Tenaglia, Eric Morrilo, and Little Louie Vega often get all the acclaim for being New York's finest house DJs, Christian stuck to his guns throughout the '90s and into the early 2000s. He drops big tracks on this album; it's really hard to go wrong with tracks by producers like Paul Johnson and Michael Moog. And Christian also drops a few of his own tracks throughout the mix: "Burning Up," "Island Joints Piano Riff," and "Soul Funky Beats." All things considered, this is Christian's most impressive, widely distributed mix album. ~ Jason Birchmeier
