A Christian boy band with an edge? Yes, it's true. Against the odds, the five photogenic young men who make up Plus One manage to serve harmony-laced pop with R&B flavorings a la N Sync et al without getting overly smooth. A perfect example is the opening tune "Camouflage" where the sophisticated vocal harmonies and programmed rhythms are offset by blazing rock guitar riffs and a touch of attitude. The spiritual content of the group's lyrics is ubiquitous but if you don't listen closely, it often sounds as if they could be singing to some ojet d'amour rather than to the man upstairs.
