Sony's X2 boxes are still ugly as sin, but at least they package two albums close together in chronological order, and more importantly, offer the expanded remastered versions of these albums. Both include bonus material, both sound terrific, the price is reasonable, and the only question you have to ask yourself is: if you already purchased the Deluxe Editions, do you need these for any reason? The answer, in a word, is no. But if you are new to Santana or new to Santana on CD and don't need an extra disc of demos and live material, these just might be for you, as they are both loaded to the gills with great tracks. Abraxas is a bona fide classic and Santana III should be, but is simply overshadowed by its predecessor and its debut -- this album is far better in terms of focus, songs, and sound than the debut album. All killer, no filler -- if you don't have 'em, snag 'em. ~ Thom Jurek
