Photographer: Rollo Phlecks. Stretches Out is pianist Mike Jones' fourth CD on the Chiaroscuro label and is possibly the best of the four. It was recorded live in Las Vegas and there are no edits and no inserts. Jones plays 11 songs, including a lively version of "I Can't Give You Anything but Love" and "On the Sunny Side of the Street." This solo piano effort effectively displays Jones' technical and creative mastery of his instrument and gives the listener a nice jazz hour of Great American Songbook standards and a new take on a few obscure compositions from the ragtime and bebop eras. ~ Paula Edelstein
