Jackie O.'s double-disc collection, Bitch, offers one CD of catty, cheesy dance-pop covers, including reworkings of Meredith Brooks' pseudo-feminist anthem "Bitch" and Oasis' "Whatever" and "Wonderwall." Intentional campiness runs rampant through these "makeovers," as well as "That Don't Impress Me Much," "Breakfast at Tiffany's," and "Don't Be Stupid (You Know I Love You)." Though these covers have about as much in common as Tori Amos' version of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" does with Nirvana's rendition, they're still amusing and surprisingly danceable. Disc two features remixes of nearly every song on the first disc, as well as a dance-pop version of Joan Osborne's "One of Us." Even for someone familiar with Jackie O., two discs of her work may be too much at once; newcomers will find this much of her dance-pop bewildering. ~ Heather Phares|
