Wild One: The Greatest Hits

Alongside the rest of the early-'70s glam pack, Suzi Quatro fans have never had to search far for a hits compilation, but The Wild One is certainly one of the most all-encompassing. Quatro's own career divides into two very separate phases -- there was her early run of hits and misses, traveling from 1972's "Rolling Stone" to 1977's "Tear Me Apart," and then there's the more rounded, adult sound that was ushered in by "If You Can't Give Me Love," and rolled on for another five years. This set bridges the two, drawing in a handful of numbers from that later period, but the lion's share of The Wild One concentrates on the leather-clad rocker who canned the can and drove down to Devilgate. A solid 13 hit singles are joined by seven further classics, including the debut "Rolling Stone," and primal covers of "All Shook Up" and "Keep a Knocking," and the spirit of Quatro as the hardest rocker in pop lives on. ~ Dave Thompson|
