Let's Dance America

Let's Dance America features Danny Sullivan mixing a ten-track set of New York garage-house. None of the tracks he drops during this somewhat brief set are exceptionally well-known ("Philly Groove" and "Voices" being the most), and none of the producers are exceptionally well-known either besides Joey Negro and Pete Heller, who both contribute remixes for the two aforementioned standout tracks. Even so, Sullivan isn't taking requests; he's throwing down tracks he wants you to hear. The result isn't far from the Body & SOUL mix albums -- drawn-out mixes of soulful house tracks with a trademark garage style to them, most produced in New York for play in New York. It's this N.Y.C. connection, no doubt, that makes Let's Dance America so patriotic. Note, of course, that this compilation is a response to the 9/11 tragedy: a consoling mix of positive, joyous house music packaged as patriotically as possible (the cover art being a U.S. flag). ~ Jason Birchmeier
