BIG HOPES, Ty Herndon's third album, continues to deliver the country belter's unique brand of radio-friendly, but nonetheless sincere, country music. Working with two producers, Doug Johnson, the man behind his self-titled debut, and Byron Gallimore, Herdon has assembled 11 perfectly crafted songs, which touch on a wide range of styles without ever straying too far from the adoring audience who made his first two albums such staggering successes. Herndon's manly baritone has caused palpitations in many a young heart (rugged good looks never hurt, either), and on BIG HOPES, he really lets aeem have it: kicking off with a sweet, introspective title track, Herndon makes full use of both his wide range and an ability to get right to the heart of a song--this is an artist whose earnestness is never in doubt. The anthemic pulse of "Hands Of A Working Man" and gentle sway of "The Only Way I Know" show an undeniable reverence for the classic country music on which Herndon was schooled, while the call-and-answer of "It Must Be Love" gives him a firm grasp on Country's modern edge.
