マイク・ポートノイ復帰後初のツアーを収めた最新ライヴ作品『Quarantieme: Live a Paris』(3CD+3Blu-ray)

本作は、ジェイムズ・ラブリエ(Vo)、ジョン・ペトルーシ(G)、ジョン・マイアング(B)、ジョーダン・ルーデス(Key)、そしては13年振りにバンドに復帰したマイク・ポートノイ(Dr)という、全世界のファンが待ち望んだ最強ラインナップによる結成40周年記念ヨーロッパ・ツアーの中から、2024年パリ五輪のために建設されたアディダス・アリーナでの公演を完全収録している。約3時間に及ぶセットリストはバンドのキャリア全体を網羅し、「Metropolis Pt. 1」「Panic Attack」「Octavarium」「Pull Me Under」といった往年の名曲や人気曲で埋められた、まさにライヴ版"ベスト・オブ・ドリーム・シアター"と呼べる内容となっている。タイトルの"Quarantieme"とはフランス語で"40th"を意味する。

バンドからのコメントは以下の通り。
「40周年記念ツアーを発表したその瞬間から、バンドにとっても俺たちのファンにとってもとても特別なイベントになるから、記録として残すべきだと確信していたんだ。このリリースによって、俺たちのパリでのパフォーマンスが素晴らしい音声と映像で美しく表現されて、この記念すべき瞬間をみんなが楽しめるような形にしたんだ」 (ジョン・ペトルーシ)

「俺たちには初めから、このツアーが忘れられないものになるとわかっていた。それは結成40周年を祝うからだけではなくて、このバンドの往年のラインナップが再結集するからなんだ。俺たちとファンの間にはショウの度に明白な興奮と感情が生まれて、完全に爆発していたよ!この作品で捉えられたパリ公演は最高の夜だった。今回それを世界中のファンと共有できて、この素晴らしいツアーをみんなで祝えるようになるんだ」(マイク・ポートノイ)

本作、3CD+3Blu-rayの豪華アートブック仕様は、Blu-ray映像にドルビーアトモス、5.1サラウンド・ミックス、ハイレゾ・ステレオの3音声を収録。3CD+3Blu-rayの豪華アートブック仕様のみ、3Blu-rayのうち1枚はボーナス・ディスクとして収録されている。
2026年2月には、この40周年記念ツアーが日本でも開催されることが先日発表された。全プログレッシヴ・メタル・ファン必見の来日公演に向け、この作品が予習としても最適な1枚となるのは間違いない。

初代ドラマーのマイク・ポートノイが復帰した黄金編成での来日を控えるプログレ・メタルの覇者。2月のアルバム『Parasomnia』も圧巻の内容だったが、2024年11月のパリでのライヴをノーカットで収めた3枚組の本作に映るのは、その半端ない仕上がりっぷりだ。40年ものキャリアを網羅したセットリストも隙がなく、その最強で大正解な佇まいは現在のオアシスにも重なる。
