While Living Colour did amass a handful of successful singles, the band was definitely more of an album-oriented outfit--all three of Living Colour's releases (VIVID, TIME'S UP, and STAIN) are thoroughly consistent, best experienced if listened to from beginning to end. The 1995 compilation PRIDE does an excellent job of balancing favorites with uncommon items--for almost every well-known track ("Cult of Personality," "Glamour Boys," "Type"), there's a rarity ("Release the Pressure," "Visions"). Other highlights include "Nothingness," "Leave It Alone," "Time's Up," and "Solace of You." The only criticism one can make against this set is its omission of such gems as "Auslander," "Middle Man," and their killer cover of the Clash's "Should I Stay or Should I Go"--but PRIDE remains a solid introduction and overview of this great band.
