AS RAW AS EVER compiles the output of Rexton Gordon--known to most as Shabba Ranks--at the peak of his international crossover success. Limited to hits scored with producers Bobby Digital--not to be confused with the RZA side project of the same name--and Clifton "Specialist" Dillon, this collection omits the many classic Shabba tunes produced by veteran Gussie Clark (most of which are collected on RAPPIN' WITH THE LADIES). Such loyalty is understandable, however. Between them the duo has overseen the deejay's amazing rise to stardom from its very beginning.
Shortly after a modest 1985 hit ("Original Fresh,") Shabba parted ways with King Jammy's Sound to sign on with the Digital B label and Digital's Heatwave sound-system. Under the auspices of Digital and fellow Jammy's expatriate Mike "Home T" Bennet, Shabba put down his first Jamaican hits and later duplicated the success of those singer/deejay combinations with "Housecall," alongside UK lover's rock crooner Maxi Priest. Shabba's first mainstream chart hit, that 1990 international smash defines the sound represented here. Notable exceptions are "The Jam," an excursion into hip-hop fusion produced by KRS-ONE, and the pure dancehall energy of the Steely and Clevie-produced "Trailor Load A Girls."

今、聴くと殆どのRiddimがやはり古い…
個人的に唯一聴けるのがラスト『Park Yu Benz』かな…
H-MAN辺りが好きなら聴いて欲しいがそれくらいしかコメントしようが無い。
