Subtitled "An American Classic Celebrates 80," this 2006 reissue of Tony Bennett's landmark 1962 release gives the nod to Bennett's rightfully legendary status. The crisply remastered album sounds better than ever, and its selection of popular tunes like "Love for Sale" and "I'm Always Chasing Rainbows" charms. Every track shines, but it is the presence of two stone-cold Bennett classics, "The Best is Yet to Come" and the evergreen title track, that vaulted the album to immortal status. Bennett was arguably at the peak of his powers here, making I LEFT MY HEART IN SAN FRANCISCO as appealing and as enjoyable today as it was on its release. (NOTE: The package also includes the only slightly less stellar 1963 follow-up, I WANNA BE AROUND, in its entirety.)
