Emo-prog warriors Coheed and Cambria return with Vaxis III: The Father of Make Believe, in the Amory Wars saga. The band touch on virtually every stylistic and production nuance theyve explored over 30 years in a startlingly focused collection composed by frontman Claudio Sanchez and writer and musician Chondra Echert. The narrative is from the point of view of an aging father (familial, communal) reflecting on the many changes and losses his people have experienced and endured over a lifetime. They also include a four-part suite on the albums latter half, with meaty riffs, chamber strings, infectious hooks, and crunchy, fist-pumping anthems.
