マリオ・カステルヌオーヴォ=テデスコと伝説的ギタリスト、アンドレス・セゴビアの長年の友情から生まれた名作『プラテーロと私』。28曲からなる連作で、ノーベル賞を受賞したカタルーニャの詩人、フアン・ラモン・ヒメネスの詩に基づき作曲されました。この録音では、詩の朗読なしで演奏されていますが、物語の英訳はブックレットで読むことができ、併せてイラストレーター、ハルフダン・ピスケットの挿絵も楽しめます。デンマーク出身のニクラス・ヨハンセンはこの演奏のためにスペイン語や現地文化を学び、素晴らしい演奏を披露。デンマーク王室の勅許を得てフレデンスボー宮殿礼拝堂で収録された美しい音響も聴きどころです。
