夕暮れ以降の街をゆったりと走るクルージングを思わせる、洗練と内省が交錯する一枚である。窓を開けて走る夜のドライブ、空は黄金から藍へと移ろい、穏やかで確信に満ちたムードが全編を包み込む。Larry Juneは本作で、これまで以上に自信に満ち、かつ内面的な深みを見せており、そのクールな余裕と鋭さが絶妙なバランスで共存している。

Cardoによるプロダクションは、温かみのあるベースライン、磨き抜かれたシンセ、そして夕暮れのように広がるサンプル使いが特徴であり、スムースかつ奥行きあるサウンドを提供している。二人のコンビネーションはさらに洗練され、目的意識を帯びた進化を遂げている。

Until Night Comes is part of an ongoing series of collaborative releases from West coast rapper Larry June and producer Cardo, sometimes known as Cardo Got Wings. Like much of their work together that precedes it, Until Night Comes is made up of smooth, relaxed beats and mellow, stony flows, with ample nods to the G-Funk of the 90s and the most laid-back of the old-school rappers that came before. This easy, breezy style is Junes general presence on the mic, and Cardos smooth production is the perfect complement. The mellow electric piano and wobbly synth bass of "50s in the City" could pass for a golden era rap track, but the crooned R&B hook of the chorus makes the song even more velvety and smoothly catchy. "Black Man" and the E-40 assisted "Ya Feel Me" are cut from a similar cloth, while the skeletal beat of "Organic Free Range Chicken" is a little more aggressive. For the most part, however, Cardo and June keep the air smoky and the vibes light throughout Until Night Comes, with guest verses from artists like Don Toliver, Wiz Khalifa, Black C, and others melting into the casual, sunny atmosphere the album cultivates. ~ TiVo Staff
