The second Now compilation released in the U.S. in 2019, Now That's What I Call Music! 70 collects the mainstream pop hits from the second quarter of the year. Of the biggest chart successes, Ariana Grande scores a hat trick with her third consecutive Now appearance, "thank u, next," while Grammy-winning country crossover artist Kacey Musgraves contributes "Rainbow." Additional pop divas P!nk, Dua Lipa, and Bebe Rexha welcome newcomers Fletcher and Billie Eilish to the fold. Now 70 also features a handful of high-profile collaborations between the likes of Zedd and Katy Perry ("365"), the Chainsmokers and 5 Seconds of Summer ("Who Do You Love?"), Sam Smith and Normani ("Dancing with a Stranger"), Calvin Harris and Rag'n'Bone Man ("Giant"), Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus ("Nothing Breaks Like a Heart"), and the group track "I've Been Waiting" with the late Lil Peep, ILOVEMAKONNEN, and Fall Out Boy. While this set is less thrilling than the jam-packed Now 69, Now 70 is a pleasant, mostly mid-tempo affair that focuses on uplifting vibes and cool tones. ~ Neil Z. Yeung
