2018年の『ブラックパンサー』ではマーベル映画としては初のアカデミー賞作品賞を含む 7部門ノミネートを受け、衣装デザイン賞・美術賞・作曲賞の3部門を受賞。続編『ブラッ クパンサー/ワカンダ・フォーエバー』も大ヒットを記録したライアン・クーグラー監督の最新作であり、『クリード チャンプを継ぐ男』では主演、『クリード 過去の逆襲』では監督・製作・主演を 務め、シリーズ最高のヒットを記録したマイケル・B・ジョーダンが一人二役に挑戦した映画『罪人たち』。1930年代の信仰深いアメリカ南部の田舎町を舞台に、かつての故郷で一攫千金の夢を賭けた商売を計画し、当時禁じられていた酒や音楽をふるまう、この世の欲望を詰め込んだようなダンスホールをオープンさせた双子の兄弟スモークとスタック。そのダンスホールのオープン初日の夜、多くの客たちが宴に熱狂するなか、ある招かざる者たちが現れ、最高の歓喜は、一瞬にして理不尽な絶望にのみ込まれ、人知を超えた狂乱の幕が開ける。そんなノンストップ・サバイバル・ホラーの音楽を手掛けるのは、『ブラックパンサー』『オッペンハイマー』でオスカーを獲得した音楽プロデューサー、ルドウィグ・ゴランソンだ。(1/2)

ライアン・クーグラー監督とは今作が5度目のタッグとなる、ルドウィグ・ゴランソン。映画のスコアも手掛ける彼が、監督のクーグラーとセレナ・ゴランソンと共にエクゼクティヴ・プロデューサーを務めるサウンドトラックは、出演キャスト、そして映画にインスパイアされた豪華アーティストたちによる全22曲を収録。その中には、ジェイムス・ブレイク、セドリック・バーンサイド、ジェリー・カントレル、リアノン・ギデンズ、バディ・ガイやブリタ―二・ハワード、ラファエル・サディーク、ドン・トリヴァー、そしてロッド・ウェイヴによるオリジナル楽曲の他、ルドウィグ・ゴランソンによる楽曲、さらに映画でサミーを演じるマイルズ・ケイトン、メアリー演じるヘイリー・スタインフェルドによるパフォーマンスも収録している。映画の舞台であるアメリカ南部、ミシシッピ・デルタのブルーズを想起させるサウンドトラックとなっている。

先日発表された2026年第68回グラミー賞でアルバムが最優秀映像作品サウンドトラック、収録曲のマイケル・ケイトン「アイ・ライド・トゥ・ユー」、ロッド・ウェイヴ 「シナーズ」、そしてジェイミー・ローソン「ペイル・ペイル・ムーン」が最優秀映像作品楽曲にノミネートされている。映画がアカデミー賞の有力候補として注目を集めているだけに、サウンドトラックの賞レースからも目が離せそうにない!(2/2)

Director Ryan Coogler, composer/producer Ludwig Goransson, and executive music producer Serena Goransson seemingly spared no expense in the making of the soundtrack for Sinners, the 2025 musical horror film starring the likes of Michael B. Jordan, Miles Caton, and Hailee Steinfeld. As the film is set in the 1930s Mississippi Delta, its music draws most heavily from blues and gospel, and also incorporates traditional Irish folk and old-time music while bringing it all to the present with elements of modern hip-hop, R&B, and pop. The most powerful fusion occurs in "I Lied to You," a showcase for Catons deep baritone that demonstrates the evolution of Black music -- the blues, rock & roll, electro, G-funk, and more -- and drives one of the films most riveting sequences. Some highlights are pure evocations of the period: Rhiannon Giddens and Justin Robinson perform an instrumental version of "Old Corn Liquor," a song the duo used to perform as members of Carolina Chocolate Drops. Throwbacks such as that one fall into place with contemporary numbers like the liberation-themed title song, co-written and sung with pain and resilience by Floridian Rod Wave. The soundtracks assembly of cross-generational talent is astounding. Numerous blues guitarists -- a gathering of legendary and emergent talent including Buddy Guy, Alvin Youngblood Hart, Eric Gales, and Christone "Kingfish" Ingram -- mix it up with the likes of R&B paragon Raphael Saadiq, Alabama Shakes frontwoman Brittany Howard, and British singer/songwriter James Blake. Alice in Chains Jerry Cantrell and Metallicas Lars Ulrich are among the ancillary musicians. Ludwig Goransson, along with Caton and Guy, play the same resonator guitar that Catons character plays in the film. ~ Andy Kellman
