Two years after releasing the triumphant, back-to-basics space disco record Everyone Else Is a Stranger, Norwegian producer Lindstrom rebooted his Feedelity label with the gleeful, sparkling Sirius Syntoms. While a bit more varied tempo-wise than his previous effort, Sirius Syntoms largely sticks to upbeat, carefree dance tunes with bright, melodic synths and pleasantly skipping beats. 80s house and dance-pop seems to be the major inspiration here, as most of the tracks are filled with sugary melodies, synth strings, and pads that sound like theyre close to imitating vocals. "Thousand Island Man" is a bit more subterranean, coursing with burbling acid synths, but it still sounds fun and playful. "Moo)n" is a swinging, late-night stroll, and the softly ticking drum machines and mellow synths of "Sharing an Orange (With Omar S on the Train from Minehead to London)" are more of an ambient interlude than anything else. The remainder of the record is simply fun and celebratory. "These Are a Few of My Favorite Strings" sounds like a flashback to when the influence of Chicago house began to infiltrate the mainstream. "Solveggen! Na!" is a bit closer to Lindstroms signature percolating space disco sound. The title track is filled with zippy, campy disco strings and digital drums (like the title suggests) as well as warped effects, and it sounds as if Lindstrom threw any notions of sounding cool out the window and just made something fun and silly that made him feel happy. ~ Paul Simpson
