More Chaos is the fourth studio album from Atlanta rap artist and Playboi Carti affiliate Ken Carson. It follows 2023s A Great Chaos, and continues the maxed-out, overdriven, and generally, well... chaotic sound of that album, falling once again into the rage genre that Carti, Carson, and other rappers on the Opium label have been establishing throughout the 2020s. As with much of Carsons output, the music here is less about lyrical content or impressive flows, but rather the bigger picture that comes together when the AutoTuned vocals and over-the-top, blasting production comes together for a sound thats overwhelming and dangerous. This formula plays out on almost every track of More Chaos. "Xposed" sounds pushed beyond its limits, with both the beat and all the melodic elements sounding squashed and liquefied. The production of "LiveLeak" is similar, but even more aggressive, with Carson casually rapping his way through an instrumental that only occasionally comes up for air. The moments when Carson tones down the chaos are few and even then, its not by much. "Blakk Rokkstar" is clearly-delivered enough to notice the propulsive Memphis rap-informed drum machine fills and and some eerie synthetic string melodies, but when the bass drops, everything goes blurry once again. Only on the final track, "Off the Meter," is Carson accompanied by any other rappers, with Playboi Carti and Destroy Lonely dropping by to close out the album with one of its most subdued inclusions. More Chaos stays in the same gear for the majority of its tracks, but the repetitive nature of the sounds becomes part of the albums appeal by the end. Ken Carson makes music to be overpowered by and lose oneself in the sheer magnitude of, and More Chaos accomplishes that once again. ~ TiVo Staff
