ポスト・ハードコアのヘヴィさとポップ・パンクのキャッチーさを併せ持ったフロリダ出身のイージー・コア・バンド、A DAY TO REMEMBER(ア・デイ・トゥ・リメンバー)。2003年の結成以来、アンダーグラウンド・シーン最大のバンドとして名を馳せてきた彼らは、2021年にFUELED BY RAMENに移籍、レーベルからの第1弾アルバムとなる『YOU'RE WELCOME』をリリースした。その彼らが、実に約4年振りとなるニュー・アルバムを引っ提げシーンに帰ってきた!

突然現地アメリカ時間2月18日にサプライズ発表された最新作『BIG OLE ALBUM VOL.1』。ストリーミングがメインストリームのこの時代に"フィジカル・ファースト"を貫き、CD/LPが先行発売!(配信は3/21からスタート)
アルバムのプロデュースを手掛けるのはバンドのフロントマンであるJeremy McKinnonとDrew Fulk a.k.a. WZRD BLD [Knocked Loose, Lil Wayne, Lil Peep] そしてZakk Cervini [blink-182, Bring Me The Horizon, Poppy]。彼らの他、Wage WarのCody Quistad、Body Countを手掛けたWill Putney、そしてリンキン・パークの現ドラマーであり、前作『YOU'RE WELCOME』をJeremyと共にプロデュースしたColin Brittainがプロダクションに名を連ねている。

アルバムの幕開けを飾るのは、容赦なく降り注ぐギターリフにオールドスクールなハードコア・サウンドと腹の底から絞り出すようなスクリームが鼓膜をつんざく、まだにアグレッシヴなエネルギーの爆発という表現がぴったりな「Make It Make Sense」。一方、アルバムにはライヴで盛り上がること間違いなしのポップ・パンク・ナンバー「LeBron」も収録されている。この2曲がA DAY TO REMEMBER最大の魅力である、音楽的振り幅の広さを示すものであり、ニュー・アルバムにも存分に詰め込まれている。

A Day to Remember conjure their blistering early work on their eighth studio album and second for Fueled by Ramen, 2025s Big Ole Album, Vol. 1. The Florida metalcore band have streamlined their sound in the decades since their 2005 debut, embracing pop hooks while still digging into the eviscerating guitars and throaty vocals. Its a potent combination that made albums like Homesick, What Separates Me from You, and Common Courtesy so abrasively memorable. With their move to Fueled by Ramen for 2021s Youre Welcome, ADTR embarked on the next chapter in their saga, crafting an album that nicely balanced the heavier aspects of their sound with their knack for melodic choruses. They further champion this sweet-and-sour approach on the Big Ole Album, pummeling the listener right from the start in classic fashion with "Make It Make Sense." Equally chest-bursting moments follow, including "Bad Blood," "Silence," and "To the Death," songs that manage to blend a variety of influences, from Bury Your Dead to Gojira, while still sounding like A Day to Remember. On the anthemic end, standout tracks like "LeBron" and "Miracle," as with much of Big Ole Album, Vol. 1, hit that sweet spot between melodic pop-punk and raw metal catharsis. ~ Matt Collar
